The Alliance

Alliance Mission

The HDPV Alliance was founded to bring together members around a common vision for the development and adoption of lower cost and higher performance PV systems. Together they are committed to building and marketing products designed to deliver superior performance at a lower cost, and to promote the HDPV Advantage.

The goals of the HDPV Alliance are to:

  • Facilitate collaboration among member companies to reduce PV balance of system (BOS) costs by leveraging the HDPV Advantage
  • Make it easy for Project Developers, System Integrators, and Engineering, Procurement and Construction companies (EPCs) and others to identify and source products with the HDPV logo

The Alliance puts in place a structured mechanism to ensure open standards for HDPV compatible inverters, and to assist with the evolution of those standards as products and technologies advance.  It also provides guidance on best-practices to suppliers of products and services that complement HDPV-compliant inverters.  By maintaining standards and educating suppliers, the Alliance helps deliver the full promise of the HDPV Advantage.

An important function of the Alliance is to generate awareness of the HDPV Advantage, and to promote its members’ solutions to PV system designers and buyers who specify equipment.  The Alliance accomplishes this by building and marketing a strong member network of HDPV compliant suppliers.

What is the HDPV Advantage?

HDPV, or High Definition PV, is the solar industry’s standard for delivering a greater concentration of solar energy in kWh by providing higher resolution power optimization, information gathering and controls level at a much lower cost than previously achievable.

The HDPV Advantage creates the highest PV ROI, derived from increased performance and lower cost of PV systems enabled by HDPV compliance standards.

HDPV compliant inverters deliver up to twice the power at a higher efficiency than the same inverter operating in a normal mode. Doubling the rated power is equivalent to cutting the cost in cents per watt (¢/W) in half. With HDPV inverters, systems also are designed with more PV modules in a series string to save up to fifty percent on DC BOS costs.
